What is Colonic Hydrotherapy?
Colonic hydrotherapy is a gentle cleansing of the colon (large intestine) using warm, filtered water. The process helps to remove waste material and supports your body’s natural detoxification processes.
What is the Colon?
The colon or large intestine is the end portion of the human digestive tract. It is approximately 1.5 m long and 6-7 cm in diameter. It’s major functions are to eliminate waste and to conserve water. Bacteria live in the colon and these synthesize valuable nutrients such as Vitamins K and portions of the Vitamin B complex.
What is the difference between a standard colonic hydrotherapy treatment and the ‘Non- touch’ treatment that you use in your clinic?
In a standard colonic, the practitioner may use abdominal massage and direct touch to support elimination. With our non-touch method, we work by resetting the body’s energy to restore balance and alignment while easing tension in the nervous system. When the body is deeply relaxed, the treatment flows more naturally and achieves greater results.”
How does the treatment work?
During the treatment, warm filtered water is gently introduced into the colon through a small, disposable tube. This helps to soften and remove waste material while encouraging the colon’s natural movement.
Is a colonic safe?
A colonic is a safe procedure and a part of a natural process. The colonic suite is cleaned to the highest standard after each client and cleaning and the sterilisation of disposable speculums and tubing is a safety measure which ensures that there is no risk of cross contamination.
Will I feel embarrassed?
No, you will fully always maintain your personal dignity and your treatment will take place in a private room with adjacent private bathroom. Only you and your therapist will be present. Your therapist fully understands and appreciates the sensitivity of the colonic procedure and will help you feel at ease and your emotions will be acknowledged and respected at all times during the procedure.
Will I need more than one session?
The number of sessions varies depending on your individual choice, needs, goals and financial commitment. Some people find significant benefit from a single treatment, while others feel they will benefit most from a course of treatments. We will discuss your health goals and create a treatment plan that’s best for you when you have your first appointment.
How long does the colonic treatment last?
The colonic treatment itself will last 35-60 minutes. It could be shorter or longer than that, based upon the judgement of the therapist and sometimes, the wishes of the client. For some people the process of release can take more time and in these circumstances the treatment time could take longer. Before your colonic about 20 minutes is required for the therapist to go over your medical history.
What kind of water is used for a colonic treatment
Highly filtered water, which passes through a number of filters before being heated to the correct temperature is used. This can absorb and flush out more toxins from the colon because of its drawing effect on solid particles, chemicals and other matter. Tap water is not used because it already has numerous chemicals and inorganic substances present.

It is advisable to eat or drink lightly in the 2 hours immediately preceding a colonic. Try to make sure you’re well hydrated during the 48 hours leading up to your appointment, drinking 2 litres of water a day. Also helpful but not essential, emptying the rectum with a bowel movement just prior to the colonic saves time and permits more to be accomplished.

No, continue to take medications, supplements etc as normal
What should I wear?
Ideally you should wear loose comfortable clothing to your appointment

Will I be treated in a private space
Yes, most definitely. Our colonic suite is a private space with a private bathroom adjacent
What will happen during the treatment?
Warm purified water gently cycles through the colon to encourage natural cleansing. While this is happening, your practitioner works holistically around your body giving light lymphatic drainage and subtle energetic harmonisation that enhances your body’s natural ability to release and restore.
Is a colonic painful?
A colonic should not be painful or uncomfortable though if some discomfort is felt it can be caused by resistance and tension. An experienced professional therapist is skilled a putting you at your ease and minimizing discomfort. Many people actually enjoy the colonic and are pleased with the unaccustomed sensation of feeling lighter, clean and clear afterwards. Sometimes during a colonic, the colon muscles will contract suddenly expelling considerable amounts of liquid and waste into the rectum. This may feel like cramping or gas and may create a feeling of urgency to empty the rectum. Such episodes if they do occur are brief and easily tolerated.
How will I feel after my treatment?
Many people report that following a colonic treatment their energy levels have increased and they feel lighter and refreshed. They also experience more digestive comfort and have more regular bowel movements.
You may need to to visit the bathroom a few times in the hours following treatment as your body continues to cleanse. Some people feel energized immediately, while others might feel a little tired and these are both are normal responses.
Can I eat after my treatment?
You can eat whenever you feel hungry after the treatment though I would suggest that you begin with light easily digested foods and avoid alcohol and spicy foods for 24 hours. Salads, vegetable soups or broths, fruit or juices are a good choice.
Will my post colonic bowel movements be normal or will I have diarrhoea or constipation?
Most people will experience normal (to you) bowel movement within 24 – 48 hours after treatment.
Can I return to work/normal activities after my treatment?
Most people can return to their daily activities immediately after treatment though it is advisable to take things easy for the rest of the day and avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours. Rest if you feel you need to.
Do you provide any aftercare instructions?
Yes, you will be provided with a sheet of guidelines to follow for the next 24 hours.
